Chanel West Coast
Album: Now You Know (Mixtape) Label: Young Money Records
Who is Chanel West Coast? To much of the public, she is the blonde bombsell with the annoying laugh off the MTV comedy clip show Ridiculousness as well as the reality show Fantasty Factory. She made her first appearance in the music industry in in former Girlicious member Tiffanie Anderson's song "Melting Like Ice Cream". Since then she signed with record label Zone 4 (though she later left the label without releasing any material) as well as releasing her debut single "I Love Money". Most recently, Chanel was immediately signed with Lil Wayne's label Young Money Records when she impressed him after he had personally invited her to his personal studio.
That kind of irresistible seductive swagger and undoubtedly impressive delivery is what makes West Coast’ new mixtape, Now You Know, a solid success. The record’s two big singles—”KARL” and “Been On”— has torn up the video world with its provocative high fashion music videos. "Been On" features rapper French Montana. Chanel's mixtape also features the likes of Diana Ross's son, Evan Ross, French Montana, Snoop Dogg and Robin Thicke.
There are weak points on Bangerz, but not very many. The tracks—“Party" (features Honey Cocaine) as well as "Greastest Hit" and "Bigger Than" — are honestly boring and kinda lifeless. "Now You Know accomplishes [the] mission" of "[selling] West Coast as an independent woman, its' hip-hop-inspired vibe makes "Now You Know" fiercely individual"
